External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has lauded Afghanistan and Honduras support to India amid Pahalgam terror attack

On Thursday, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held a discussion with Afghanistan's Acting Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, expressing gratitude for his strong condemnation of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians.
In a post on X, Jaishankar wrote, “Good conversation with Acting Afghan Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi this evening. Deeply appreciate his condemnation of the Pahalgam terrorist attack. Welcomed his firm rejection of recent attempts to create distrust between India and Afghanistan through false and baseless reports.”
This comes in the backdrop of unverified claims by Pakistani sources alleging Indian missile strikes on Afghan territory. Jaishankar praised Afghanistan’s dismissal of such misinformation and reaffirmed India’s longstanding friendship and development partnership with the Afghan people.
In a separate diplomatic event, Jaishankar jointly inaugurated the Embassy of the Republic of Honduras in New Delhi on Friday, alongside Honduran Foreign Minister Eduardo Enrique Reina. During the event, Jaishankar described the opening as a "significant milestone" in bilateral ties and welcomed Honduras’ support in condemning the Pahalgam terror attack.
He emphasised the solidarity shown by Honduras in opposing terrorism in all its forms. Jaishankar added that the new embassy is a testament to the shared vision and mutual commitment between India and Honduras to deepen diplomatic and developmental cooperation.
These engagements signal India’s emphasis on strengthening global partnerships and countering destabilising narratives that undermine regional stability.
