Jaipur: A woman and her alleged lover, both of whom had been absconding following the murder of her husband, were detained in Rajasthan’s Khairthal-Tijara district, officials have confirmed.

According to police, the body of the victim, Hansram, was found on Sunday inside a drum placed on the rooftop of a house. His wife, Sunita, and Jitendra—the son of the landlord—were reported missing following the incident but were taken into custody the following day.

Hansram, originally from Shahjahanpur district in Uttar Pradesh, had been living with his wife and three children in Kishangarh Bas. Police stated that Sunita and Jitendra had fled with the children and are currently being questioned.

The body, which showed signs of a deep throat injury caused by a sharp weapon, was found after neighbours complained of a foul odour. Investigators also revealed that salt had been applied to the corpse in an apparent attempt to accelerate decomposition.

Hansram, who was employed at a brick kiln, had been residing in a rented rooftop room for nearly two months. Police further noted that he was allegedly addicted to alcohol and often drank in the company of Jitendra.
