New Delhi: As India marked its 79th Independence Day on Friday, several members of the film fraternity took to social media to share heartfelt messages and tributes, celebrating the spirit of freedom and honouring those who protect it.

Actor Akshay Kumar posted a moving tribute to “Everyday Heroes” who keep beaches clean, sharing a group photo with them. “Freedom feels brighter when we care for the ground beneath our feet. Was enjoying beachside volleyball when I met these real-life heroes… all smiles, all heart. #IndependenceDay #EverydayHeroes,” he wrote on X.

Suniel Shetty saluted the Indian Armed Forces in an emotional Instagram post, where he was seen waving the tricolour and interacting with soldiers. “No force like our Armed Forces. No pride like being Indian. Saluting the bravehearts who safeguard our nation and ensure that India breathes free. I wish Happy Independence Day to all the citizens,” he wrote.

Veteran actress Hema Malini joined Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, waving the national flag from her Mathura residence balcony alongside friends and colleagues.

Rajkummar Rao shared a photograph of himself walking towards the hoisted tricolour, expressing “heartfelt gratitude” to the Armed Forces for their courage, dedication, and sacrifices. “Happy Independence Day, everyone… Jai Hind,” he captioned the post.

South superstar Ram Charan uploaded a video of himself saluting the national flag at his home. “Wishing everyone a Happy 79th Independence Day. Jai Hind,” he wrote.

Kareena Kapoor marked the occasion by posting a striking image of the National Flag set against a golden sunset on her Instagram Stories, writing, “Here’s to our country and its incredible spirit. Happy Independence Day.”

Mahesh Babu kept his wishes simple, sharing a picture with the caption, “Happy Independence Day.”

Mohanlal shared a photograph of himself saluting the National Flag and wrote, “Happy Independence Day.”

Priyanka Chopra posted a video of the tricolour fluttering in the wind, accompanied by the message, “Happy Independence Day.”

 

 

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the national flag at the Red Fort, assisted by Flying Officer Rashika Sharma. The ceremony featured a flower-petal shower from two Mi-17 helicopters piloted by Wing Commanders Vinay Poonia and Aditya Jaiswal. The Prime Minister received the ceremonial guard of honour from the National Flag Guard, the Indian Air Force, Army, Navy, and Delhi Police, comprising 128 personnel.

Before arriving at the Red Fort, PM Modi paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat. This year’s celebrations carried the theme ‘Naya Bharat’, aligned with the government’s vision of achieving ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047.
