Sukma: On September 1, the Indian Air Force’s Central Air Command executed a remarkable rescue mission involving a Mi-17V5 helicopter deployed in Jagdalpur. The helicopter successfully winched a civilian from the fast-flowing waters of the Sabari River in Sukma District, Chhattisgarh.

Sukma district in the Bastar region of Chhattisgarh has recently been hit hard by persistent torrential rainfall, resulting in severe flooding and devastation. Rivers and streams, including the Sabari and Indravati, overflowed, submerging extensive tracts of land and cutting off many villages from essential connectivity. This has led to severe disruptions in daily life and posed major risks to residents.
