In a major operation, the Indian Air Force (IAF) successfully airlifted live organs from Pune to Delhi using a C-17 Globemaster aircraft, facilitating a critical life-saving surgery.

A special Green Air Corridor was established for the C-17 aircraft to ensure the swift transportation of the organs between the two cities.

The IAF shared on X: "In a moment of urgency, a C-17 Globemaster from Hindan Air Base took off late last night, carrying a team of medical specialists from R&R Military Hospital. A Green Air Corridor was created to enable the airlift of live organs from Pune to Delhi, ensuring a vital life-saving surgery could take place."

Previously, the IAF had deployed its C-17 Globemaster aircraft for humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) operations in Vietnam, responding to the severe flooding caused by Typhoon Yagi.

The C-17 team at Hindan Air Force Station coordinated the loading of 35 tons of aid, including water purification equipment, containers, blankets, kitchen supplies, and solar lanterns, which were sent to Vietnam.

In a post on X, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar announced, "India has launched Operation Sadbhav, showing our solidarity with those affected by Typhoon Yagi. India is sending aid to Myanmar, Vietnam, and Laos. Today, 10 tons of aid, including dry rations, clothing, and medicines, were sent to Myanmar aboard the Indian Navy's INS Satpura. The IAF is delivering 35 tons of aid, including water purification systems, containers, blankets, kitchen supplies, and solar lanterns, to Vietnam. Additionally, 10 tons of aid with generators, hygiene supplies, mosquito nets, blankets, and sleeping bags are being sent to Laos."
