Denton, Texas: A 27-year-old Indian student from Hyderabad has reportedly been shot dead while working at a petrol station in Dallas, United States.
The victim, Chandrashekar Pole, had moved to the US in 2023 after completing his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) in Hyderabad. He had recently finished his master’s degree and was seeking full-time employment while working part-time at the petrol station.
The shooting occurred during a night shift, with an unidentified gunman opening fire. Further details surrounding the incident are awaited as investigations continue.
Pole’s family has appealed to the Indian government to assist in repatriating his body. In Hyderabad, BRS MLA Sudhir Reddy and former minister T Harish Rao visited the family to offer their condolences.
In an online post, Rao described the killing as a "tragic" incident and urged the government to take immediate steps to bring back the student’s mortal remains. "The pain the parents are enduring, knowing their son, whom they believed would achieve great things, is no more, is heart-wrenching," he wrote. "We, on behalf of BRS, demand that the state government make every effort to return Chandrashekar’s body to his hometown as soon as possible."
