Bengaluru: The wife and daughter of former Karnataka DGP Om Prakash have been booked for murder following a complaint from his son, who alleged their involvement in the officer's death. Both women have been arrested, Bengaluru police said on Monday.

Om Prakash, 68, a retired IPS officer and native of Champaran, Bihar, was found dead with multiple injuries at his residence in HSR Layout on Sunday evening. His son Kartikesh, in a formal complaint, claimed he "strongly suspected" that his mother Pallavi and sister Kriti were responsible for the murder.

According to the FIR, Kartikesh alleged that Pallavi had been threatening to kill his father for the past week, forcing the former top cop to seek refuge at his sister's home. He further claimed that two days ago, Kriti convinced her father to return home "against his will".

"On Sunday, while I was at the Karnataka Golf Association, I got a call from our neighbour saying my father was lying downstairs. I rushed back and saw him in a pool of blood, with head and body injuries. A broken bottle and a knife were found near him," Kartikesh said.

He also stated that frequent domestic disputes had created tension in the household. “My mother and sister used to fight with my father often. I believe they are behind his murder. I request legal action,” he told police.

Police have registered a case of murder under relevant IPC sections and are investigating the motive and circumstances surrounding the death.

Om Prakash served as Karnataka’s Director General of Police from March 1, 2015. He held a postgraduate degree in Geology.
