Uttarkashi: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed deep grief over the devastation caused by a cloudburst in Dharali village of the Uttarkashi district, which triggered massive flash floods and widespread destruction.

Taking to social media platform X, the Chief Minister wrote in Hindi, "The news of heavy damage caused by a cloudburst in Dharali (Uttarkashi) is extremely sad and painful. SDRF, NDRF, district administration, and other concerned teams are engaged in relief and rescue operations on a war footing. I am in constant contact with senior officials and closely monitoring the situation. I pray to God for the safety of all.”

In a public statement later, CM Dhami added, “I have been informed about a cloudburst incident in Dharali of Uttarkashi. We are working to rescue the people. Officials from the District administration, the Indian Army, NDRF, and SDRF are trying to rescue people and save them.”

Flash flood after cloudburst leaves trail of destruction`

The cloudburst struck Dharali village on Tuesday, releasing flash floods that washed away several homes and left dozens feared missing. Horrific visuals emerged from the scene, showing villagers screaming for help as floodwaters surged through the area.

Rescue operations are ongoing with multiple agencies deployed, including NDRF, SDRF, and the Indian Army. Helicopters and emergency response teams have been placed on standby as authorities continue to search for the missing and provide aid to survivors.
