Jammu: An encounter erupted on Sunday in the Dachhan area of Jammu’s Kishtwar district between militants and security forces.

According to a senior police official, the operation was launched based on specific intelligence inputs indicating suspicious movement in the region. Security personnel cordoned off the area and initiated a search operation.

However, during the operation, they came under heavy gunfire from militants, resulting in a fierce exchange of fire. The encounter is currently ongoing, the officer confirmed.

Additional reinforcements have been dispatched to the area, and the entire region remains under tight security as the operation continues.
