New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) will hold a press conference on Monday evening to announce a nationwide Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voters’ list, officials said.
While full details are yet to be disclosed, sources said the ECI is expected to unveil the first phase of the revision drive, which will likely cover 10 to 15 states, including those heading to assembly elections in 2026.
States scheduled for polls next year, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Kerala, Assam, and Puducherry, are expected to be part of this initial phase.
The Special Intensive Revision aims to update and verify voter rolls nationwide, ensuring accuracy and inclusion ahead of the upcoming state elections.
