New Delhi: The Election Commission is set to announce the dates for Legislative Assembly elections in four states on Friday. The dates will be announced for Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Haryana and Maharashtra at 3 pm in a press briefing.

Also, the dates for the by-elections in Kerala may also be revealed on Friday. The by-elections will be held in Palakkad and Chelakkara legislative assembly constituencies. It remains unclear whether the by-election for Wayanad will be announced alongside these or if it will be delayed due to the recent landslides disaster.

The term of the Haryana government is set to end on November 3, while Maharashtra’s on November 26. Maharashtra will hold elections for 288 Legislative Assembly seats and Haryana will elect representatives for 90 seats. 

The dates for Jammu and Kashmir are expected to be announced as per the Supreme Court's directive to conduct elections before September.
