A mild earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale struck Assam's Nagaon district on Monday afternoon, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS). The tremors were felt at approximately 12:09 pm IST.

The epicentre of the quake was located about 40 kilometres from Tezpur, with seismic activity recorded at a depth of 35 kilometres beneath the surface. The coordinates provided by NCS were 26.28°N latitude and 92.71°E longitude.

Sharing the details on social media platform X, the NCS stated, "EQ of M: 4.3, On: 18/08/2025 12:09:33 IST, Lat: 26.28 N, Long: 92.71 E, Depth: 35 Km, Location: Nagaon, Assam."

There were no immediate reports of damage to property or casualties due to the quake. However, residents in nearby areas, including Tezpur, reported experiencing light tremors.
