Srinagar: The family of Dr Muzammil Ganaie, arrested following the recovery of 360 kilograms of explosives from his rented room in Faridabad, denied any knowledge of his involvement in terror activities. Azad Shakil, his brother, said there has been no history of any cases against their family in five decades.

"It is being alleged that he is big terrorist. We have no knowledge of it. For the past five decades, there has been no case against anyone from our family," Azad Shakil, brother of Muzammil, told PTI at his Pulwama residence.

Shakil described their family as farmers who have faced hardships, including stone-pelting, due to their nationalist stance. He insisted they are "completely Indians" and their patriotism can be verified by anyone in their village.

"You can ask around about him. There are allegations about his involvement in terror activities, but we have not been allowed to meet him so far," he said.

Regarding Dr Muzammil, Shakil called him a "good person" and mentioned that, though allegations about terror involvement exist, the family has not been permitted to meet him yet. He added that Muzammil had recently come home to attend their sister's wedding, which has now been cancelled. The doctor had also previously travelled to Kashmir for his father’s surgical treatment.
