New Delhi: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has issued a stern warning to the Union Government, accusing it of attempting to “wriggle out of promises” made to the country's youth. The youth-led movement, which called off its nationwide agitation on July 25 following the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, has accused the Modi administration of “vishwasghat” (breach of trust) and called a crucial National Working Committee meeting on Monday, August 24.
Warning that its initial goodwill must not be mistaken for weakness, the CJP stated that all corrective options, including launching a second phase of nationwide agitation, remain on the table.

The CJP’s outburst follows proceedings in the Supreme Court on August 18, during which the bench repeatedly directed the Union Government, asking three separate times, to present a consolidated list of First Information Reports (FIRs) registered against student protesters across India. The apex court had indicated an intention to invoke its extraordinary powers under Article 142 of the Constitution to quash all such FIRs simultaneously. However, the government failed to commit to providing the compiled list.

Speaking at a press conference following the hearing, CJP co-convener Saurav Das and Legal Affairs lead Ratna Singh alleged that the government appeared to be trying to “cheat the young generation” after securing an end to the demonstrations on the basis of firm, solemn commitments.

The CJP reiterated that the terms agreed upon during joint parleys were unambiguous.

Complete immunity: The unconditional withdrawal or quashing of all FIRs linked to the protests.

Protection guarantees: A binding assurance that no student or peaceful protester would face punitive action in the future.

Victim compensation: Formal written assurances detailing honourable financial compensation for the families of deceased NEET examination victims.

The CJP leadership highlighted that the official government delegation engaged in talks had not formally reached out to outline the steps being taken to provide these written assurances.

The party’s National Working Committee is meeting on Monday to finalise its next steps, while urging students, volunteers and young citizens nationwide to stand prepared.

CJP leaders affirmed that while the movement successfully secured Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, they will not rest until every single commitment made to the youth is fully honoured in both letter and spirit.
