Chennai: The DMK has launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, questioning his alleged “silence” over voter deletions in Tamil Nadu during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

In a post on X on October 6, DMK spokesperson Saravanan Annadurai questioned Gandhi’s position on the voter-list revision exercise and accused him of adopting “inconsistent positions”.

Annadurai asked why developments in Tamil Nadu had not received the same attention as the broader opposition campaign against the Election Commission.

His remarks came a day after INDIA bloc leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, marched from Parliament to the Election Commission office in Delhi, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over the SIR process.

The DMK has alleged that millions of voters were removed from electoral rolls in Tamil Nadu during the exercise.

The DMK spokesperson also sought an explanation from Rahul Gandhi over a statement attributed to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge.

Annadurai asked why Gandhi had not publicly endorsed Kharge’s reported statement about state governments elected after the SIR exercise.

“Why is he not endorsing Kharge ji’s statement that all State Governments elected after SIR should be dissolved?” Annadurai asked.

Annadurai also questioned whether Gandhi had refrained from raising the issue in Tamil Nadu because he was “afraid of @actorvijay”.

He described Gandhi as a “duplicitous man” and used the phrase “Once a skunk, always a skunk” in his post.
