A woman who drove a brand-new Mahindra Thar through a Delhi showroom’s glass wall has dismissed viral rumours of her death, saying she and her family escaped unhurt

A woman whose video of crashing a brand-new Mahindra Thar through a showroom’s glass wall went viral has dismissed rumours about her death.
The accident took place at a Mahindra outlet in East Delhi’s Nirman Vihar, where 29-year-old Maani Pawar from Ghaziabad was performing a customary ritual before taking the car out. The ritual involved placing a lemon under the tyre, but Pawar accidentally pressed the accelerator, sending the Rs 27 lakh SUV plunging from the first floor onto the road.
Soon after, multiple videos on social media falsely claimed that Pawar had suffered fractures or even died. She released a statement on Instagram to set the record straight.
“The purpose behind making this video is to debunk the false news. Some people, to gain views and likes, have released fake videos. They said the woman involved in the accident suffered a fracture and broke her nose. They said the woman has died. All these are fake videos,” Pawar said.
Describing the incident, she added, “The car was at high RPM, the salesman had already told us, and it suddenly accelerated and plunged and overturned. Once the car fell, all three of us exited through the front door, and none of us sustained any injuries.” Watch the video below:
The viral video had shown the overturned SUV on the road outside the showroom, sparking widespread speculation. Pawar has now urged people to stop spreading rumours, saying, “I am alive and not dead. Please stop spreading fake videos.”
