New Delhi: Delhi Police have filed multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) at the Barakhamba Road and Tilak Marg police stations following Monday's opposition demonstration, law enforcement authorities confirmed.

According to police statements, the registered cases involve allegations of barricade-breaking and roadway graffiti during the political march. On Monday, opposition leaders and supporters under the banner of the INDIA bloc, headed by Lok Sabha opposition leader Rahul Gandhi, proceeded along Barakhamba Road toward the Supreme Court. The march preceded a petition filed by 11 opposition figures in the apex court contesting decisions made by the Election Commission regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists.

Concurrently, the Supreme Court Registry has flagged 14 procedural defects in the writ petition submitted by Rahul Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, and nine additional INDIA bloc leaders challenging aspects of the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) ongoing electoral roll revision.

The petitioners comprise Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Trinamool Congress MP Saugata Roy, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut, CPI(M) MP M.A. Baby, Communist Party of India leader D. Raja, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha MP Mahua Majhi, Nationalist Congress Party (SCP) MP Supriya Sule, and Indian Union Muslim League MP E.T. Mohammed Basheer.

Significantly, the Registry has requested clarification from the legal team regarding the inclusion of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioners S.S. Sandhu and Vivek Joshi as private respondents in the writ action—an objection raised with respect to petitions brought under Article 32 of the Constitution.

The petitioners have stated they approached the highest court over alleged administrative irregularities in the execution of election panel powers during the SIR process, requesting a judicial examination of how the commission formulated and carried out decisions concerning voter list updates, amongst other reliefs.

Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi has invited opposition parliamentarians for high tea at his official residence on Tuesday, following Monday's demonstration against alleged discrepancies in the voter roll revision.

Earlier, Gandhi expressed gratitude to opposition leaders for their solidarity during the march, pledging that their political campaign will persist.

"We needed to show the government that the people of India are not going to be intimidated. You cannot beat us, threaten us, frighten us. We will not accept being bullied. As I said in my press conference, there are no parallel protests. It’s one protest, and it’s a protest where everybody is standing together. Every single person is going to stand against these killers of our Constitution, these killers of our democracy. And we’re not going to back down," he stated.
