The families of Delhi Police personnel injured during the recent 'Cockroach Janata Party' (CJP) protest and the 'Parliament March' have broken their silence, describing scenes of bloodshed, alleged mob violence and the emotional toll the clashes have taken on their households.

At a press conference on Friday, relatives of the injured officers alleged that policemen on duty were subjected to brutal attacks by protesters, with one family claiming an officer was 'almost lynched' and left unconscious for more than four hours before colleagues rescued him.

One family member fought back tears while recalling the moment an injured officer returned home.

'When my father came home after duty, his khaki uniform was completely soaked in blood. His head and hands had suffered severe injuries,' the relative said.

Delhi Police ACP's wife Avneet Kaur described the night her husband returned home injured as one of the most traumatic experiences of their lives.

'When my husband reached home on the night of July 20, I was shattered after seeing his condition. It was a horrifying sight for our two-year-old daughter and me. She was terrified after seeing her father covered in injuries,' she said.

Kaur urged people to look beyond the uniform.

'A police officer is not just someone in uniform. Behind every officer is a family, a wife, children and elderly parents who wait for them to return home safely every day,' she said.

The daughter of an injured sub-inspector alleged that the violence escalated after anti-social elements infiltrated what was initially presented as a student-led protest.

'My father was deployed at the barricades where a huge crowd had gathered. He often told us that this was no longer just a students' movement, but that anti-social elements had entered the protest,' she said.

Describing the events of July 25, she alleged that protesters dragged her father away from the barricades and assaulted him.

'The mob forcibly pulled my father away and launched a life-threatening attack. They almost killed him. He remained unconscious at the spot for over four hours before his team managed to rescue him. When he was brought home, his entire uniform was drenched in blood,' she claimed.

She also expressed anguish over what she described as the public narrative surrounding the incident.

'While my father was fighting for his life in hospital, I opened social media only to find him being portrayed as a criminal and a villain,' she said.

The press conference comes days after violent clashes during the CJP protest in Delhi left several police personnel injured.

The families said their objective was to highlight the human cost of the violence and the impact such incidents have on the families of officers deployed on law-and-order duty.
