Delhi Police has denied the CJP’s October 10 protest request, citing law-and-order risks, public inconvenience, procedural lapses and past violations.

Delhi Police has denied the Cockroach Janata Party’s (CJP) request to hold a demonstration at Jantar Mantar on October 10, citing the risk of serious law-and-order problems, inconvenience to the public and failure to submit a formal application for permission.
The reasons were outlined in a letter addressed to CJP co-convenor Saurav Das and joint secretary Balkrishna by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, New Delhi district. The letter said the proposed gathering could create serious law-and-order concerns and that permission could not be granted in the larger public interest.
The police also said the communication received from the party was merely an intimation of its plans rather than a formal application seeking approval. According to the letter, applications for programmes at Jantar Mantar must be submitted at least 10 days before the proposed date.
Authorities further referred to alleged violations of protest conditions during previous demonstrations, including instances in which gatherings continued beyond their permitted duration and led to law-and-order issues.
Why is CJP planning to protest on October 10?
The Cockroach Janata Party had planned the demonstration over allegations against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar concerning the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
The allegations include claims of voter-list tampering under the SIR exercise and of bypassing two colleagues to alter Form 6, a document used to apply for voter registration.
Delhi Police’s letter confirms that permission for the proposed demonstration has been denied, with public order, procedural requirements and alleged past violations cited as reasons for the decision.
