The updated fare slabs are now available on the DMRC website and at all metro stations

New Delhi: For the first time in eight years, Delhi Metro fares have been hiked, with a revised fare structure coming into effect from today, Monday, 25 August 2025. Commuters will now pay ₹1 to ₹4 more per journey, while the Airport Express Line fares have increased by up to ₹5.
In a post shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the DMRC confirmed the hike, stating that the revision is nominal, with increases ranging between ₹1 and ₹4 across all metro lines. The Airport Express Line will see a slightly higher adjustment, with fares increasing by up to ₹5.
“This is to confirm that Delhi Metro fares will be revised with effect from tomorrow, i.e., 25th August 2025. The revision will be nominal, with fares increasing by Re 1 to Rs 4. The fares on the Airport Line will increase by up to Rs 5,” the DMRC stated.
The revised fare structure, which came into effect this morning, has been implemented to help balance rising operational and maintenance costs while keeping metro travel accessible for the public.
DMRC officials have said the fare adjustment is essential to maintain service quality, support infrastructure upkeep, and facilitate future expansion of the metro network.
Despite the hike, the increase is expected to have only a marginal impact on daily commuters, and the metro remains one of the most affordable and efficient public transport systems in the capital.
The updated fare slabs are now available on the DMRC website and at all metro stations.
