New Delhi: Operations resumed at Delhi airport’s refurbished Terminal 2 (T2) on Sunday, with IndiGo and Air India restarting domestic flights from the upgraded facility. The reopening marks the full activation of all three terminals—T1, T2, and T3—at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), boosting its annual passenger handling capacity to over 100 million.

Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), operated by the GMR Group-led consortium, announced on X, “Future Ready, Feature-packed, Terminal 2 Back in action.”

The modernised T2, which was closed for renovation in April, can now accommodate up to 15 million passengers annually. It features advanced technologies like Self Baggage Drop (SBD) counters, enabling passengers to check in their luggage independently, reducing queue times. The terminal also includes six new Passenger Boarding Bridges (PBBs) to enhance operational efficiency.

Together, IndiGo and Air India are operating around 120 daily domestic flights from T2. Overall, IGIA handles more than 1,300 flight movements each day, reaffirming its position as the country’s busiest airport hub.
