Security personnel acted instantly, tackling and disarming the gunman before further shots could be fired.

Jammu: The CCTV footage documenting the dramatic moments in which a 70-year-old gunman opened fire on the motorcade of National Conference President Farooq Abdullah and Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary is now going viral.
The video captures the chaotic sequence in which the assailant, identified by police as Kamal Singh Jamwal of Purani Mandi, targeted the former Chief Minister. The footage shows Jamwal positioned near the exit of a wedding venue in the Greater Kailash area as the political entourage prepared to depart.
In the recording, the suspect is seen drawing a weapon and discharging a single round. Before a second shot could be fired, two police officers, an inspector and a sub-inspector, swiftly lunged at the shooter, disarming him and pinning him to the pavement.
"The accused was waiting outside the venue and tried to fire on Abdullah," a senior police official stated. "Quick intervention by the security detail prevented any casualties."
Abdullah and Choudhary had been attending a reception for the son of party colleague B.S. Chouhan and were exiting the hall when the attack occurred. Neither leader was harmed in the incident.
While Jamwal was immediately taken into custody, the investigation has taken on a multi-pronged approach. Preliminary medical examinations suggest the suspect may have been in an inebriated state, though police are continuing to interrogate him to determine if the shooting was a premeditated assassination attempt or a "drunken outburst."
