Gandhinagar: In a significant political development, Rivaba Jadeja, wife of Indian cricketer Ravindra Jadeja, is set to be inducted into the Gujarat Cabinet as part of a major reshuffle and expansion of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel’s government.

The long-anticipated exercise follows a high-level strategy meeting in New Delhi attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP national president JP Nadda and others.

The new ministers will take the oath of office on Friday at Gandhinagar’s Mahatma Mandir, with Governor Acharya Devvrat administering the swearing-in ceremony.

Among the key changes, Majura MLA Harsh Sanghavi, currently Minister of State for Home and Sports, will be elevated to Cabinet rank — a move seen as recognition of his performance and the BJP’s push to promote young leaders.

Rivaba Jadeja’s inclusion is among the most high-profile inductions, reflecting the party’s effort to bring in new, visible faces and balance regional representation ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.

Currently, the Bhupendra Patel Cabinet has 15 ministers. The reshuffle will expand it to 22 or 23 members, with four to five new entrants and around ten existing ministers expected to be dropped.

Who is Rivaba Jadeja?

Rivaba Ravindrasinh Jadeja has been representing the Jamnagar North constituency since December 8, 2022.

A mechanical engineering graduate from Gujarat Technological University, Ahmedabad, Rivaba is also known for her social work. She founded the Shree Matrushakti Charitable Trust, which works toward women’s welfare and empowerment across Gujarat.

Rivaba married cricketer Ravindra Jadeja in 2016. The couple has a daughter, Nidhyana.
