New Delhi: The BJP has urged Delhi's Lieutenant Governor, VK Saxena, to direct the Delhi government to take legal action against former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for allegedly "hijacking" the official "CMO Delhi" handle on the social media platform X.

Earlier on Friday, the Chief Minister's Office wrote to X, requesting the restoration of the official "CMO Delhi" account, which had reportedly been renamed to "KejriwalAtWork."

In a letter to the Lieutenant Governor, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva called for legal action to be taken against Kejriwal for renaming the account and using it for personal posts. "I have requested the LG that the IT department should take legal action against Kejriwal for hijacking the official CMO account on X and to ensure steps to prevent such incidents from recurring," Sachdeva told reporters.

In response, outgoing Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, speaking at a press conference, stated that X has clear guidelines regarding account ownership. "According to those legal guidelines, action, whatever needed, will be taken," she said.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has dismissed the BJP's allegations as baseless and advised the party to focus on governing Delhi rather than making accusations.

The BJP recently regained power in Delhi after 26 years, defeating the AAP in the February 5 assembly elections. However, the new government has not yet been formed.

Sachdeva also mentioned that he had written to the Delhi LG, urging the power distribution companies to come forward and dispel the "misleading claims" made by Atishi regarding power cuts in the city.
