New Delhi: In response to the current law and order scenario in the national capital, the Delhi Police has immediately cancelled all standard leave approvals for its force, according to official police sources on Friday.

The directive, issued by the police headquarters on Thursday, was dispatched to District Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs), the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), Indira Gandhi International Airport authorities, and other top-ranking officials.

Under the new instructions, no routine leave, such as casual or earned leave, will be sanctioned until further notice. Exemptions will strictly be granted for verifiable, high-priority emergency cases following authorization from competent officials.

In addition, the directive restricts police personnel from joining any outside training sessions or educational courses without explicit permission from the Police Commissioner.

"In view of the prevailing law and order situation, no routine leaves, ie, casual, earned leaves, etc, would be granted to the police personnel, including GOs, with immediate effect and until further orders.

"Leaves shall be sanctioned only in genuine emergency cases after duly verified and approved by the sanctioning authority. All DCPs are requested to ensure meticulous compliance," the official communication stated.

The order further emphasised, "No police personnel, including GOs, will attend/participate in any course without the approval of the commissioner of police until further orders."

The police crackdown follows widespread demonstrations across the capital spearheaded by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). The political group has been advocating for comprehensive examination system reforms and demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over allegations surrounding the NEET paper leak.

Tensions escalated on July 20 when thousands of activists gathered at Jantar Mantar to execute a 'Sansad Chalo' demonstration on the opening day of Parliament's Monsoon Session. Clashes broke out when demonstrators attempted to breach barricades toward Parliament, prompting security personnel to deploy tear gas and resort to a lathi-charge, which left several officers and demonstrators injured.
