Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has urged supporters to take a break from the protests and spend time with their families during the festive period, while calling for prayers for jailed spokespersons Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das.

In a 16-minute message issued on Dussehra, Dipke appealed to supporters to stay away from hatred and hold on to the movement's principles of peace, compassion and love. His appeal comes amid the agitation demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar's resignation over allegations concerning his functioning and irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

Acknowledging the hardships faced by protesters and their families, Dipke said he had spoken to the families of Ranka and Das, who had asked supporters not to worry about them.

He urged supporters to spend a few days with their loved ones as festivals approached, noting that several volunteers had been beaten or detained during the protests. He also warned against allowing the anger directed at the movement to influence its members.

Dipke became emotional while speaking about Ranka and Das, calling them the real leaders of the movement and crediting them with guiding its decisions. He said both had remained committed to peaceful protest despite being sent to jail.

The CJP's planned protest on October 10 was disrupted by heavy security deployments and barricades at Jantar Mantar, with thousands detained, including Dipke, Ranka and Das. The two spokespersons were detained on October 13 for allegedly violating the terms of a peace bond and sent to judicial custody the following day. Their custody was later extended by two days.

Dipke also rejected comparisons between the CJP protests and demonstrations in France, Nepal and Bangladesh, maintaining that his supporters had not resorted to violence and continued to follow Mahatma Gandhi's principles of non-violence.
