Chennai: The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has provided an explanation in light of the allegations that the lone female dafadar in the Corporation was transferred over wearing dark lipstick. The GCC clarified that the transfer of S. B. Madhavi was not due to her personal choices, but rather related to administrative matters.

Madhavi had been serving as an escort to Chennai Corporation Mayor R. Priya. She was transferred to the Manali zone. Shortly thereafter, she alleged that the action was taken because of her wearing dark lipstick. In response to this allegation, the Corporation has now issued a clarification.

Madhavi also alleged that a memo was issued against her, instructing her not to wear lipstick and not to speak to anyone, which she claimed was a violation of her human rights.

According to the GCC, the memo issued to Madhavi only inquired about violations of rules in the Mayor's Office. It specifically addressed her late arrivals to the office and her failure to carry out her duties. The GCC stated that no questions were raised regarding Madhavi's personal interests, nor did any officials inquire about those matters.

Madhavi received the memo on August 6.
