Building on the success of DigiLocker for citizens, the government on Monday launched 'Entity Locker', a cutting-edge digital platform aimed at revolutionizing the management and verification of business and organizational documents.
Developed by the National eGovernance Division (NeGD) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Entity Locker is a secure, cloud-based solution designed to simplify the storage, sharing, and verification of documents for businesses, including large organizations, corporations, MSMEs, trusts, startups, and societies.
Entity Locker integrates with various government and regulatory systems, offering real-time access to documents via government databases. It also features consent-based mechanisms for secure document sharing, Aadhaar-authenticated role-based access management, 10 GB of encrypted cloud storage, and legally valid digital signatures for document authentication.
This platform is a key element of India’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), aligning with the Union Budget 2024-25 vision of enhancing digital governance and improving the ease of doing business.
The platform's integration with institutions like the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, GSTN, and DGFT ensures instant access to critical documents, making it easier for businesses to share documents with partners and stakeholders. It also tracks document activities for accountability, reduces administrative overhead, and minimizes operational bottlenecks.
Entity Locker supports various use cases, including vendor verification, expedited loan applications for MSMEs, FSSAI compliance, GSTN and MCA registrations, and corporate annual filings.
