Gas cylinder blast in Kundalahalli PG kills 23-year-old, injures three, investigation underway

Bengaluru: A 23-year-old software professional died and three others were injured following a commercial gas cylinder explosion at a paying guest (PG) accommodation in Kundalahalli, police said on Tuesday.
The blast occurred at around 6.15 pm on Monday at Seven Hills Sai Co-Living PG, located within the HAL Police Station limits.
Victim identified, others hospitalised
The deceased has been identified as Aravind, a native of Ballari, employed as a senior analyst with Capgemini, police said. Three other residents sustained injuries and are receiving treatment at Brookfield Hospital.
Fire and rescue operations
The explosion took place in a seven-storey (G+6) building housing 43 rooms. Fire tenders, emergency services, and local police promptly arrived at the scene to carry out evacuation and fire-control measures.
Cause under investigation
Preliminary findings suggest that a commercial-grade gas cylinder was involved in the blast. Police said the exact cause of ignition is yet to be determined.
Legal action initiated
A case has been registered against the PG management, and further investigation is ongoing, authorities added.
