Punjab: Security forces recovered a suspected Pakistani drone along the India-Pakistan border in Punjabโ€™s Tarn Taran district on Wednesday, May 15.

The Border Security Force (BSF), in coordination with Punjab Police, seized a DJI Mavic 3 Classic drone near Khemkaran around 3:30 PM, acting on intelligence provided by the BSFโ€™s Intelligence Wing.

Officials believe the drone may have fallen due to electronic countermeasures deployed along the international border.

This incident follows a series of recent recoveries along the Punjab border. On May 14, BSF troops made three significant seizuresโ€”recovering a pistol, a drone, and a packet of suspected heroin in separate operations.

The first incident took place around 8:15 AM near Mahawa village in Amritsar district. A pistol with a magazine, wrapped in yellow adhesive tape and fitted with two illuminating strips, was discovered in a harvested field.

Later the same day, at approximately 11:20 AM, a DJI Mavic 3 Classic drone was found in another harvested field near Metla village in Gurdaspur district. Authorities suspect this drone was being used for cross-border smuggling activities.

The BSF credited the timely and accurate intelligence provided by its wing and the swift action of troops for successfully intercepting and foiling the attempted smuggling of arms and narcotics using aerial drones from across the border.

These repeated drone recoveries underscore ongoing challenges posed by cross-border infiltration and smuggling operations, with security agencies remaining on high alert along Punjabโ€™s international boundary with Pakistan.
