AAP leader Lucky Oberoi was killed in a daylight shooting outside a gurdwara in Jalandhar, triggering a police probe.

Jalandhar: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Lucky Oberoi was shot dead on Friday in a targeted attack in Jalandhar, Punjab. The incident took place in broad daylight at around 8.15 am on Friday near a gurdwara in the Model Town area, police said.
According to preliminary information, Oberoi was inside his car and attempting to park outside the gurdwara when assailants riding a two-wheeler approached and opened fire. He was hit by five bullets in the attack. Oberoi was rushed to a nearby private hospital, but succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
Police teams reached the spot soon after the shooting and cordoned off the area. An investigation has been launched to identify the attackers and determine the motive behind the killing. Further details are awaited.
His wife had earlier contested the municipal elections as an Aam Aadmi Party candidate, but was unsuccessful.
Meanwhile, reacting strongly to the daylight killing of the AAP leader in Jalandhar, Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Legislative Assembly, Partap Singh Bajwa, launched a sharp attack on the Bhagwant Mann-led government, alleging a total breakdown of law and order in the state.
In a post on X, Bajwa wrote, "Law and order in Punjab has collapsed under @BhagwantMann's watch. The shocking daylight murder of @AAPPunjab leader Lucky Oberoi outside a gurdwara in Jalandhar, exposes the grim reality: if even ruling party leaders aren't safe, what hope remains for ordinary citizens?"
"Punjab today is gripped by fear, gang violence, and administrative paralysis while the AAP government remains busy with PR and excuses. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann must answer: who is responsible for this complete breakdown?" he added.
