Bihar: A violent clash between two nephews of Union Minister Nityanand Rai in Bhagalpur, Bihar, has left one dead and another critically injured in a shocking dispute that reportedly began over drinking water.
The incident took place in Jagatpur village on Thursday morning at the residence of Raghunandan Yadav, the minister’s brother-in-law. Eyewitnesses claimed that an argument erupted between Jai Jit Yadav and Vishwajit Yadav after a domestic help dipped his hand into a glass of water while serving it. Already strained relations between the brothers escalated, leading to gunfire on both sides.
During the altercation, Vishwajit retrieved a pistol and shot Jai Jit, injuring his jaw. In retaliation, Jai Jit reportedly grabbed another firearm from an individual named Vikal and fired back, killing Vikal on the spot. Vishwajit also succumbed to gunshot wounds at the scene.
Given the involvement of the Union Minister’s family, the case has drawn significant political and public attention. Police teams from Navgachhia and Parbatta arrived promptly and have launched a high-level investigation. Forensic experts have collected evidence, and videography of the crime scene has been conducted.
Range IG Vivek Kumar has ordered tight security in the area, while Navgachhia SP Prerna Kumar confirmed that Jai Jit has been referred for advanced medical treatment. Authorities are continuing their probe to determine the full sequence of events and the motive behind the deadly escalation.
