Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy has formally requested the launch of a Vande Bharat Express from Bengaluru to Goa via coastal Karnataka

Bengaluru: Union Minister for Steel and Heavy Industries HD Kumaraswamy has written to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, urging the introduction of a Vande Bharat Express connecting Bengaluru with Mangaluru, Udupi, Karwar, and Madgaon in Goa.
The proposal aims to address long-standing public demand for faster rail connectivity between Karnataka’s capital, the coastal belt, and Goa.
Kumaraswamy highlighted that the ghat section along this route has already been electrified, removing technical hurdles for operating high-speed trains. He stressed that the corridor serves tourists, pilgrims, students, and daily commuters, making it one of the most strategic routes for regional development.
The proposed Vande Bharat Express is expected to drastically reduce travel time while providing modern amenities and comfort for passengers. Improved rail connectivity will link Bengaluru’s IT hub with major coastal tourist destinations and commercial ports, fostering trade, tourism, and economic growth.
Railway officials are yet to respond formally to the request, but the electrification and readiness of the route raise optimism for the timely introduction of the high-speed service. With scenic views along the Western Ghats and a direct link to Goa, the Vande Bharat Express could transform travel and tourism along India’s western coast.
