Bengaluru: A 26-year-old gym trainer and competitive bodybuilder allegedly died by suicide at his home in Mahalakshmi Layout in Bengaluru on Saturday evening, shortly after learning that his long-time girlfriend was engaged to another man.
The deceased, identified as Kiran, had been in a relationship with the woman for nearly three years. He had been visibly distressed for the past fortnight after she showed him her wedding saree and invitation card, as per a Times of India report.

On Saturday evening, after meeting his girlfriend, Kiran returned home and locked himself in his room. Later, when he failed to respond to repeated calls, relatives forced open the door and found him hanging.
Investigators reportedly recovered a death note in which Kiran allegedly named his girlfriend and her mother as responsible for his death. Family members told police that Kiran had spent much of his earnings to help clear his partner’s loan and had introduced her to them, saying he intended to marry her.

Kiran’s body was taken to a mortuary for post-mortem examination. Based on a complaint filed by his family, Mahalakshmi Layout police have registered a case and are probing the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the contents of the death note.
