Bengaluru: A suspected cylinder blast in Bengaluru’s Wilson Garden early Friday morning resulted in the death of one person and left nine others injured, local officials confirmed. The tragic incident occurred around 8 AM, leading to widespread damage in a residential building complex, where several houses collapsed and neighbouring homes suffered partial destruction.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, accompanied by Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh and senior officials, inspected the blast site later in the day. CM Siddaramaiah stated that the initial suspicion points to a cylinder explosion, though the exact cause is still under investigation. He announced, “An explosion has occurred. At first glance, it is said that it was a cylinder blast. There is a suspicion that it might have been a cylinder blast. In this building complex, several houses have collapsed. Instructions have been given to repair the houses.”

The deceased was identified as Mubarak, a young boy, while nine others, among them Kasturamma and Narasmma, who sustained severe burns, are receiving medical care in multiple hospitals across the city. The CM assured that all injured individuals were being treated, with costs covered by the government. “Kasturamma has severe burns, and her treatment will be taken care of. The neighbouring houses have also been damaged.”

Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh detailed ongoing rescue operations: “Local Police, DCP and Joint Commissioner rushed to the spot and took care of the place of the incident. Around 7-8 houses are damaged, and another 7-8 houses are partially damaged. Right now, we have immediately called the Bomb Detection Team, the Fire team, SDRF, Forensic Team and our Local Police. They are trying to remove the debris so that we see that nobody else is stuck there.”
