The central government announced a reshuffle of governors in Goa, Haryana and Ladakh

New Delhi: The President of India has accepted the resignation of Brigadier (Retd.) B D Mishra as the Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Ladakh. In a consequential reshuffle, three new appointments were announced by Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Ashok Gajapathi Raju, former Union Minister of Civil Aviation and veteran politician from Andhra Pradesh, has been appointed as the Governor of Goa. He replaces P S Sreedharan Pillai. Raju is expected to bring his decades-long administrative and legislative experience to the role.
Kavinder Gupta, former Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, has been appointed as the new Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh. Gupta is a senior BJP leader known for his administrative roles in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh, an academic and political thinker, has been named as the new Governor of Haryana. His appointment marks a new chapter in the state’s constitutional leadership.
According to the official statement from Rashtrapati Bhavan, all appointments will take effect from the dates the respective appointees assume charge of their offices. The formal oath-taking ceremonies are expected to take place in the coming days.
This mid-term reshuffle signals a strategic move by the central government ahead of key political events. Each appointee brings a mix of political, administrative, or academic experience, aligning with the Centre's approach to governance in the states and Union Territories.
