Kolkata: While addressing party workers in Kolkata during his first visit to the state since the conduct of ‘Operation Sindoor’, Union Home Minister Amit Shah sent out a strong message to the people of Bengal by saying that ‘Tenure of Mamata didi as CM is set to end in 2026’.

In a series of allegations against the Bengal Chief Minister, Shah attacked the state government, urging people to support the saffron brigade in the upcoming West Bengal assembly elections in 2026.

Shah alleged that Banerjee remained silent and did not speak up when tourists from West Bengal were killed in the Pahalgam terror attack. He said, “By criticising Operation Sindoor, Mamata Banerjee is insulting mothers and sisters of this country. She is criticising Operation Sindoor to appease the Muslim vote bank in Bengal.”

Seeking to win the confidence of the people of the state, the union minister assured the people of Bengal of putting an end to the infiltration culture in the state.

“Mamata Banerjee can never stop infiltration in Bengal, only the BJP can do that,” Shah asserted. He also went to attack the Mamata Banerjee-led government by saying that the TMC would never give the required land to the Border Security Forces (BSF), as it wants infiltration to continue for the party to remain in power.

Speaking about the recent riots in Bengal's Murshidabad, he accused the state government of sponsoring such violence in villages. “The Ministry of Home Affairs insisted on the deployment of BSF during Murshidabad riots in Bengal, but the TMC government didn't allow it to happen,” he added.

He went on to say that the CM was simply opposing the Waqf Amendment Act for the politics of appeasement. Three days ago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had criticised the Bengal government while attending a public rally in Alipurduar. The CM was quick to lash back at the Hindutva party, accusing the PM of attempting to 'sell' sindoor and alleging that the Centre had deliberately named it 'Operation Sindoor' to gain political mileage.

Earlier on Sunday, Shah inaugurated the new building of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in Rajarhat on the outskirts of the city of joy.

"It is a moment of immense satisfaction as we continue to strengthen each link in the chain of modern forensic and investigative infrastructure," he said.
