Akasa Air has launched new services connecting Bengaluru and Dibrugarh, strengthening air connectivity between India’s Northeast and southern regions.

Akasa Air has commenced operations from Dibrugarh to Bengaluru further expanding its presence in Assam and significantly strengthening air connectivity between India’s Northeast and the southern regions of the country. The new route has been introduced to support the growing demand for trade, commerce, tourism, and business travel in Upper Assam and surrounding areas, while offering travellers from South India faster and more convenient access to the Northeast.
Under its new network plan, Akasa Air will operate three weekly direct flights between Dibrugarh and Bagdogra, along with through-flights between Dibrugarh and Bengaluru via Bagdogra, with no change of aircraft required at Bagdogra. This arrangement ensures a seamless travel experience, reducing travel time and eliminating the inconvenience of aircraft changes for passengers flying between the Northeast and southern India.
This improved connectivity is expected to benefit business travellers, tourists, students, and families, while also supporting regional development and economic integration.
With the addition of Dibrugarh, Akasa Air now operates 32 weekly departures from Assam, connecting the state with three major metropolitan cities Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata. This expanded network significantly enhances both inter-regional and intra-regional accessibility, helping bridge the geographical distance between the Northeast and the rest of India.
The airline’s growing presence in the region is aligned with national objectives of improving connectivity to underserved areas and promoting balanced regional development.
To commemorate the launch, a special event was held at Dibrugarh Airport, where a ceremonial lamp was lit in the presence of representatives from Akasa Air and airport authorities. A special boarding pass was also presented to the first passenger of the inaugural flight, marking the occasion and celebrating the airline’s expansion into the region.
The new services are expected to unlock new tourism opportunities in Assam and the broader Northeast, while also facilitating faster movement of professionals, entrepreneurs, and cargo between the Northeast and South India. For businesses, the improved connectivity reduces logistical barriers, shortens travel times, and strengthens commercial linkages across regions.
With this launch, Akasa Air continues to play a key role in expanding India’s domestic aviation network and supporting inclusive growth across regions.
