Air India Express is set to amplify its domestic and international footprint starting June 1, 2025, with route additions from Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Trichy. This move reinforces its ambition to become a leading budget carrier connecting South India to key Gulf and South Asian destinations.
Key highlights of the expansion
From Trichy (Tiruchirappalli):
- New daily flight to Hyderabad: A fresh route, marking Hyderabad's debut on Air India Express's Trichy map.
- Bengaluru frequency boosted: Existing service to Bengaluru increases from 2 to 9 flights per week, reflecting rising passenger demand.
- Domestic services from Trichy (post expansion): 27 weekly flights, doubling the current seat capacity.
Trichy remains a critical hub for international routes too, with frequent flights to Abu Dhabi, Dammam, Doha, Kuwait City, Muscat, and Sharjah, catering to Tamil Nadu’s large Middle Eastern diaspora.
From Bengaluru:
- Daily flights to Kathmandu: Enhancing regional ties with Nepal.
- Double-daily flights to Kochi: Strengthening intra-south India connectivity.
- Daily flights to Trichy: Bridging two growing aviation hubs.
These additions will solidify Bengaluru's position as a key base in Air India Express’s network strategy. With this, the airline is strategically challenging existing market leaders and building a robust presence in both metro and Tier-II cities.
Air India Express is poised for scalable, efficient, and affordable operations throughout 2025, backed by its expanding fleet of Boeing 737-8 aircraft, especially for budget-conscious travellers eyeing the Gulf, South Asia, and domestic sectors.
