Instead of a typical baggage claim, travellers found decorated belts with personalized gift boxes tagged to their seat numbers.

Passengers travelling on an Air India flight from Bengaluru to Mumbai received a pleasant surprise this Christmas, as the airline handed out gift boxes to every passenger after landing in Mumbai.
Instead of the usual wait at the baggage claim, passengers arriving at the Mumbai airport were greeted with Christmas decorations, a wrapped luggage belt, and gift boxes placed on the conveyor belt. Each box was tagged with the passenger’s seat number, making the moment even more personal.
The thoughtful gesture quickly brought smiles to travellers, turning a routine arrival into a memorable Christmas moment.
Content creator Rajeev, known on X (formerly Twitter) as Gogi Tech, shared photos of the gift boxes and their contents on social media. His post described the moment as a genuinely heartwarming experience.
“Landed in Mumbai from Bengaluru and walked into a genuinely heartwarming surprise at the baggage belt. Christmas gifts for every passenger. Each gift box tagged with your seat number. Small gesture, big smile. Merry Christmas! Thank you, Air India, for making the day a little more special,” he wrote.
Rajeev later added that Air India has been known to offer similar surprises on other festive occasions as well, though passengers need a bit of luck to experience it.
Inside the neatly packed boxes were three varieties of cookies from Marriott Bonvoy, chocolate crinkle cookies, cinnamon cookies, and vanilla kipferl. The festive treats added to the holiday cheer and were warmly received by passengers.
Social media applause
The gesture was widely appreciated online, with many users praising Air India for its thoughtful approach. “One small gift can really make your day,” one user commented. Another wrote, “Amazing. Feeling a strong urge to travel and experience this now.”
Some users added humour to the conversation. One joked that passengers should return to Bengaluru just to enjoy such surprises again, while another playfully said they hoped the box did not contain an in-flight meal that was never served. A third summed up the mood simply by saying, “Should’ve travelled Air India instead.”
For many travellers, the Christmas gifts were a reminder of Air India’s traditional hospitality, showing how a simple, well-timed gesture can make travel more pleasant, especially during the holiday season.
As passengers left the airport with their luggage and festive treats in hand, it was clear that Air India’s Christmas surprise had added a little extra joy to their journey.
