Chennai: Senior AIADMK leader and sitting MP M Thambidurai, along with PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss, filed their nomination papers on Thursday for the biennial Rajya Sabha election from Tamil Nadu. 

Thambidurai, a veteran parliamentarian, was accompanied by AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami and other senior party leaders at the Secretariat, marking the final day of filing nominations ahead of the March 16 election.

Anbumani, a former Union Minister, submitted his nomination alongside senior AIADMK leaders, including K P Munusamy. The seat was allotted to the PMK (Anbumani faction) as part of the AIADMK-led alliance in the state on March 4.

Both leaders are poised to secure Rajya Sabha seats based on the numerical strength of AIADMK in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly.

Of the six Rajya Sabha seats from the state, the ruling DMK is expected to win four seats, while the AIADMK-led alliance is projected to secure two seats, reflecting current Assembly numbers.
