A total of 242 passengers and crew members were on board the Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner that crashed shortly after take-off from Ahmedabad at 13:38 hrs on Thursday. According to preliminary details, the passenger manifest includes 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, 1 Canadian national, and 7 Portuguese nationals.

Emergency services were quickly mobilised, and the injured are being transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. Authorities are yet to release an official casualty count, as rescue efforts continue at the site.

Air India, which operates both the 787-8 and 787-9 variants of the Dreamliner on international routes, stated that it is fully cooperating with investigators to determine the cause of the incident. The airline has urged the public to rely on verified updates.

A dedicated passenger hotline – 1800 5691 444 – has been set up to assist relatives and friends seeking information. However, Air India has requested media personnel not to call this line and instead direct press queries to the airline’s official media contact at +91 9821414954.

Further updates will be shared through Air India’s official X handle @airindia and its website www.airindia.com.

Authorities, including the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and a Boeing technical team, are expected to begin a full investigation into the incident.
