One train will connect Agra to Delhi and the other will link Agra with Gwalior

New Delhi: As part of its modernisation push, Indian Railways is set to expand its network of semi-high-speed and technologically advanced trains, including the Vande Bharat, Amrit Bharat, and Vande Metro. In a new development, two Namo Bharat Rapid
Rail trains, also known as Vande Bharat Metro, are expected to be introduced in Agra in the coming months. These two trains will operate on separate routes—one connecting Agra to Delhi and the other linking Agra with Gwalior.
Currently, there is an operational intercity train between Agra and Delhi, but this will eventually be phased out and replaced by the Vande Bharat Metro, which aims to offer faster and more comfortable travel options.
A railway official has stated that these new trains will comprise 12 to 16 coaches. Each coach is designed to carry up to 400 passengers, with seating available for 100 and standing space for 300.
The coaches will be air-conditioned and fitted with cushioned seats and automatic doors, similar to the existing Vande Bharat Express trains.
Passenger comfort and safety are major priorities in the new Namo Bharat Rapid Rail. The coaches will come equipped with modern amenities, including LCD screens to provide journey-related information, bio-vacuum toilets, mobile charging ports, and a fire detection system.
There will also be route display systems to assist passengers throughout their journey.
The Vande Bharat Metro trains will be capable of reaching speeds up to 130 kmph, with an average operational speed of around 90 kmph. Additionally, each engine will feature a specialized shield system to significantly reduce the risk of collisions, further enhancing safety.
The upcoming launch of the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail is considered a major boost for commuters in Agra and nearby regions. The city is also preparing to welcome four more Vande Bharat trains on routes such as New Delhi-Indore, Aligarh-Mumbai, Agra-Jaipur, New Delhi-Secunderabad, and New Delhi-Chennai. Preparations and testing processes for these trains are already underway.
In summary, the launch of the Vande Bharat Metro service from Agra to Delhi and Gwalior represents a significant upgrade in India’s rail infrastructure, promising enhanced speed, safety, and comfort for daily commuters and long-distance travelers alike.
