
Bengaluru: Four people have been arrested in connection with the stampede outside M. Chinnaswamy Stadium during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) IPL victory celebrations on Wednesday.
Among those taken into custody is Nikhil Sosale, the head of marketing and revenue for RCB at Diageo India. According to India Today, Sosale was detained by Bengaluru Police at the city’s airport while attempting to board a flight to Mumbai. However, the identity of the other three arrested is yet to be ascertained.
The stampede happened on Wednesday as massive crowds gathered outside the stadium to join in the team’s first-ever Indian Premier League title celebrations. Overwhelming footfall and alleged lapses in crowd control led to the tragic incident.
