New Delhi: A devastating fire broke out at a residential building in the Palam area of Delhi, claiming the lives of seven people, including three children, officials confirmed on Wednesday.
According to Delhi Fire Services, around 30 fire tenders were immediately deployed to the site after receiving the emergency call.
Firefighters are currently engaged in controlling the blaze and conducting rescue operations.
Mansih Kumar Shekhawat, a fire officer at the scene, confirmed, "The fire had been largely extinguished, though some smoke and residual heat remained, which firefighters are cooling down." He added that the firefighting operation is ongoing and further updates are awaited.
This incident follows another major fire in the national capital earlier this week. On Sunday morning, a blaze at the Nature Bazaar in Andheria Modh engulfed nearly 40 shops. Ten fire engines were deployed, and officials confirmed there were no casualties.
