Ponkunnam (Kottayam): A loyal pet dog named Kittu has emerged as a hero after bravely protecting his visually challenged owner from a deadly cobra attack. The incident unfolded at the home of 63-year-old Sreekumar, who lives with his family in Ponkunnam.
Sreekumar, visually impaired since birth and employed as a pump operator, encountered the cobra near his kitchen door around 3:30 p.m. last Sunday.
Unaware of the danger due to his limited vision, Sreekumar was alerted by Kittu's persistent barking. Though Sreekumar couldn't see the snake, Kittu sensed the imminent threat.
Assuming Kittu wanted to go outside, Sreekumar opened the door, allowing Kittu to confront the snake head-on. Hearing the commotion, Purushothaman Nair, the owner of the house where Sreekumar resides, rushed to the scene.
He witnessed Kittu's courageous fight with the cobra, eventually managing to kill it and prevent harm to Sreekumar.
Sreekumar's wife, Ramadevi, who wasn't home during the incident, explained the incident, expressing deep gratitude towards Kittu and hugging him throughout.
