Alappuzha: The family court here became the venue for a rare reunion of a divorced couple. The couple who parted ways 14 years ago found the path of love again, with their only daughter witnessing the auspicious moment of her parents reuniting again. 

Subramanyan (58), an Alappuzha native, was an office assistant to the superintendent's office at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College, and Krishnakumari (49), a helper in an Anganwadi in Vadaikal, got married on August 31, 2006. But they legally got separated in March 2010 due to personal issues. Krishnakumari had received all her jewellery back, along with an alimony of Rs 1.5 lakh.

In 2020, Krishnakumari filed a petition in the Alappuzha family court seeking money for her daughter's expenses, for which the court had ordered Subramanyan to pay Rs 2,000 per month. Subramanyan had approached the High Court against this but the court rejected his plea. The court had suggested resolving the issue amicably. 

It was a turning point in the case when it reached family court judge Vidhyadaran. The court, taking into account that both of them were not remarried, proposed to live together for the sake of safety and the better future of their daughter. Both Subramanyan and Krishnakumari agreed to this.

The family court became the venue for their reunion, and they joined hands in the presence of lawyers. They celebrated the reunion by sharing sweets with each other. Their daughter, Ahalya S Nair was part of this sweet reunion. She has excelled in class X and is preparing for higher education. They returned from court by submitting an application for a registered marriage. 

From now on, they will be staying in a rented house near Anjali Auditorium, Kalarcode.
