Pullur (Kasaragod): Adidev, a Class 8 student, is super excited and proud to accompany his little brother Ashiq who is going to join Class 1 on Monday. The Malalyalam textbook Ashiq is going to learn will have the story and pictures of Adidev.
The story ‘Kinavu’ written by Adidev, now a student of Udayanagar High School, and his illustrations have been included in the Kerala Padavali for Class One. How he became a writer, that too is a story.
Adidev started writing when he was a Class One student of Pullur Government UP School. His Malayalam teacher M M Surendran gave an assignment to the students to write a story and draw related pictures. The topic Adidev got was ‘Farmer and his Goat’. He then wrote a story with illustrations of the farmer.
Seven years later, Surendran got an opportunity to be a part of the State School Curriculum Steering Committee. He then introduced a story of Adidev before the committee which in turn decided to include it in the Malayalam text book for Class One.
Adidev is the elder son of loading labourer P P Umeshan and P Kousalya. He also has a sister Ashitha who is studying in Class Seven.
