The CID has filed a charge sheet in the special court dealing with POCSO cases against former Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, who faces molestation charges.
The case originated in March when the Sadashivanagar police registered a complaint against the BJP leader. The Karnataka Director General of Police, Alok Mohan, subsequently transferred the case to the CID for further investigation.
The charges stem from allegations made by the mother of a 17-year-old girl, who claimed that Yediyurappa molested her daughter during a meeting on February 2 at his residence in Dollars Colony, Bengaluru. Yediyurappa has vehemently denied the accusations, asserting that "people would teach a lesson to those indulging in conspiracies against me."
Tragically, the 54-year-old woman who lodged the complaint passed away last month at a private hospital due to lung cancer. Despite her death, the CID continued its investigation and questioned Yediyurappa for about three hours on June 17 regarding the incident.
The Karnataka High Court had previously issued an order preventing the CID from arresting Yediyurappa in connection with the case. The filing of the charge sheet marks a significant development in the ongoing legal proceedings against the former chief minister. PTI
