Kozhikode: A theft has been reported at the residence of renowned writer MT Vasudevan Nair, located on Kottaram Road in Nadakkave, Kozhikode. According to police, 26 sovereigns of gold have been stolen. The incident came to light after MT’s wife, Saraswathi, lodged a complaint with the Nadakkave police. The police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.
The theft is believed to have occurred between September 29 and September 30, while the couple was not at home. The gold ornaments were found missing when the family checked the almirah recently.
There are no signs of forced entry or damage to the almirah. It is suspected that the burglars used a key, which was kept near the almirah, to open it and steal the gold. This has led authorities to believe that someone close to the family may have been involved in the crime.
Initially, it was believed that the stolen gold had been kept in the bank locker, but upon inspection, the jewelry was not found there. The stolen items included three necklaces, bangles, earrings, diamond earrings with a locket, and a locket adorned with an emerald stone. The police are investigating to apprehend the culprits.
